After the introduction of team members, the actual action begins in this stage. Team members become confrontational with each other as they’re vying for position and control during this stage.

Status Review Meeting

Statistical Sampling

Statistical sampling as name implies is taking a sample number of parts/items from the whole population and examining them to determine if they fall within acceptable variances.

Statistical sampling also helps to determine the standard deviation.

Statement of Work (SOW)

Starvation

Starvation is one type of project endings as described by PMBOK 3.

Sometime resources are cut off from the project activities or are no longer provided to the project and brings down the curtain to trigger the project ending.

Starvation can happen for any reasons such as

1. Other projects takes precedence/importantance over the current project and divert the funds or resources from the current project.
2. The customer curtails an order.
3. The project budget is reduced.
4. A key resource quits.

Start-to-Finish (SF) Relationship

Precedence diagramming method (PDM) is one of the Tools and techniques of the Activity Sequencing and Start-to-Finish (SF) is part of it.

In this relationship the independent/preceding activity must start before the dependent/succeding activity can finish.

This relationship is used very rarely.

Inspection

Inspection involves physically looking at, measuring, or testing results to determine if they conform to the requirements or quality standards.

It’s a tool used to gather information and improve results. Inspections might occur after the final product is produced or at intervals during the development of the product to examine individual components.

Inspection may take actual measurements of components to determine if they meet requirements.

Inspection keeps errors in the product from reaching the customer whereas prevention keeps errors from occurring in the process.

Influence diagrams

One of the tool and technique and diagramming technique to identify risk.

Influence diagrams typically show the casual influences among project variables, the timing or time ordering of events, and the relationships among other project variables and their outcomes.

They will visually depict risks (or decisions), uncertainties or impacts, and how they influence each other.

Soft Logic

SMART Goals

SMART goals are one of the methods used to define the project objectives. These rules/guidance’s will provided how the objectives should be defined.

The SMART rule is as follows

S—Specific.       Objectives should be specific and written in clear, concise, and understandable terms.
M—Measurable. Objectives should be measurable.
A—Accurate.     Objectives should be accurate and should describe precisely what’s required.
R—Realistic and tangible. Objectives that are impossible to accomplish are not realistic and not attainable. Objectives must be centered in reality.
T—Time bound. Objectives should have a time frame with an end date assigned to them.
