PMP Certificants need to earn 60 PDU’s to maintain the PMP credential and validity of PMP Certification.
Currently, without taking in to account of the year of certification, the required Credential has to earned in next three years for maintaining the credential.
Effective from late August 2008 (Exact date to be announced by PMI soon), PMI has decided to change the PMP Expiration Date.
PMP credential holders need to earn the required 60 PDUs in four years from the anniversary date of the bestowal of their credential.
For example, If you have attained the PMP Certification on 16-May-2008, the Expiration date will be 16-May-2012.

Under PDU Category 2SDL,PMP certificants will be awarded credit for Self-Directed Learning.
You can choose to read book(s) on project management topic of your choice for minimum 15 hours. Also take note of the book(s) you read and it will useful to reply if audit arises.
So if you do not know where to start earn PDUs freely, try your local library.
It is an inexpensive way to get started on your PMP renewal and its free to earn PMP PDUs.
Pls note that maximum of 15 PDUs can be earned under 2SDL (Self-Directed Learning) Category per CCR Cycle.

Yes, PMP Certificants are allowed to transfer their PDUs to the next CCR Cycle.
Certificants who earn more than 60 PDUs in the current CCR Cycle can apply up to maximum of additional 20 PDUs to their next CCR Cycle.
However, only PDUs earned on the third year can be transfered to next CCR Cycle.
For example, if a PMP Certificant current CCR Cycle ends by 31 Dec 2007, up to a maximun of 20 PDUs earned in 2007 can be transferred to next CCR Cycle begins on 1 Jan 2008.
This is a great way to get a head start on your next CCR cycle.

An existing PMP Credential Holder should earn minimum 60 PDUs in three years period (one CCR Cycle) to retain the PMP Certification.
After CCR Records Office confirms the necessary PDU requirement, PMI will mail or email an application for certification renewal to each PMP.
PMP should complete and return this application form together with renewal fees (US$60 for PMI Members and US$150 for non-members) to finish the renewal cycle.
This completed form should be mailed to:
PMI Global Operations Center,
4 Campus Boulevard,
Newtown Square,
PA USA 19073.
To ensure proper delivery of this application please notify PMI of updates to your contact information when they occur.

Your PMI Identification Number (Unique Identification number assigned from PMI) and PMP Number (Unique number located on PMP certificate listed as the “Certification Number”) are required to report PDU online.
Log on to PMI PDU Online resource to report your earned PDUs or View your approved PDUs.
Once PDUs are reported, it may take up to three weeks to be approved and to be posted to your transcript.
Keep safe the document proof for your earned PDUs and it is required if you are audited.

You can earn free PDUs in various methods and sources. One of such source is Orientation Course or Project Management Courses conducted by your organization to train you about the in-house project management methodologies.
You claim claim such PDUs under the category of 2 SDL. Under this category you can claim maximum 15 PDUs per CCR cycle. Refer to get document evidence such as course certificate from your organization. This will be handy if PMI Audit/request arises.

You can earn 5 PDUs freely by working as Project Manager and performing Project Management services to your employee. This PDUs must be claimed under category 2H
To claim this 5 PDUs you must satisfy the below conditions
1. Must practice minimum 1,500 hr of project management services per calender year i.e Jan-Dec
2. Maximum 15 PDUs per 2H category per CCR cycle.

The Suspension Status of a PMP certificant is maintained for 12 months. This will provide them an opportunity to obtain the required PDUs to regain active PMP status.
But if they do not regain the active status within the Suspension period, the PMP Status is changed to Revoked.
This will lead the Former PMP to completely start over the certification process to regain Active PMP Status.

If an existing PMP Credential Holder do not satisfy the Continuing Certification Requirements within the active certification period, PMP certificant will be placed on suspension.
The Suspension Status is maintained for 12 months. This will provide them an opportunity to obtain the required PDUs to regain active PMP status.
However, during this period the suspended credential holder could not use the PMI credential or post-nominal.
